METHOD
- DESIGN OF THE STUDY
The research design that will be adopted for this study is the survey research design. A survey research design is a description design aimed at collecting sample from the population in order to examine the distribution, incidence and interaction of education and sociological phenomena (Denga 1998). This design help researchers to draw samples from the population and data collected are representation of the respondents opinion about the phenomena at any given time. Thus, the researcher will adopt the survey research design which employs questionnaire to assess the perception and opinion of the respondents in a cross section of the population so as to make inference about the population based on the information from the sample survey data.

The questionnaire will be divided into two sections, A and B. Section A contains personal data of the respondents ranging from name of school, gender of the students, class of the students and age of the students etc.
While section B, will investigate the opinion of the respondents on the influence of deviant behaviors on the development of reading skills among JSS students.
- STATISTICAL TREATMENT
The data that will be collected will be organized and analyzed based on the research questions and hypotheses. The simple percentage (%) and chi-square statistics at significant level of .05 will be used.
