INTRODUCTION

The word “Taboo” is from Polynesian term “tabu” which simply means “forbidden” thing or person and can apply to any sort of prohibition. Some scholars also define taboo as “ritual avoidance or ritual prohibition as a rule of behaviour associated with a belief. A taboo is a vehement prohibition of an action based on the belief that such behaviour is either too sacred or to accursed for ordinary individuals to undertake theat of supernatural punishment.
