ABSTRACT

The research examines Obafemi Awolowo’s leadership philosophy. It is also seeks to contribute to the debate on the achievement of good governance and leadership in Nigeria. This philosophical thought sharpens a person’s ability to never the human desires that crave selfish interest and crass materialism. Basically, it is about good governance which is defined in terms of social justice, fairness transparency, accountability equity and selflessness. It is always said to be believed that leaders engage in corrupt practices and selfish acts because they lack complete education, which Awolowo links with the development of mind Body and Brain, an embodiment of rational reasoning. It is believe that leaders need to fame their appetite and emotion, and embrace discipline as a value in order to achieve affective governance and development in society.
