ALTITUDINAL RESPONSES OF STUDENTS TO HIV/AIDS EDUCATION IN TERTIARY INSTITUTION (EDUCATION PROJECT TOPICS AND MATERIALS)

 

ABSTRACT

Basic AIDS education remains, fundamental to the global effort to prevent HIV transmission. AIDS education can and does target all ages. Sexually retire adults are one principal target. AID education is also vitally important for young people and the school offers a crucial point of contract for their receiving this education providing AIDS education in school, however is sometimes a contentious issue. So in order to find the source of AIDS, it is necessary to look for the organ of HIV and find out HOW, WHEN and WHERE HIV first began to cause disease in human. The main obstacle to effective AIDS education for young people in school is the adults who determine the curriculums. These adult, parents, curriculum planners, teachers or legislature. Often consider the subject to be too ‘adult’ for young people, they have an idea of protecting the innocence of young people, this often occurs for moral or religious reason and can cause very heated debates. There is no set age of which AIDS education should start and different countries have different regulation and recommendation. An attempt will be made in this research to identify the attitude of student in tertiary institution to HIV/AIDS education. the researcher shall set-out same relevant question to justify to good ethnic of the project research.

The main objective of the study is to identify the level of attitude of student in tertiary institution particularly the Federal College of Education, Osiele to HIV/AIDS education. Especially, the study will

  • Ascertain the importance of HIV/AIDS education to HIV/AIDS prevention.
  • To determine the accessibility of young people in Federal College of Education to the HIV/AIDS education.

The scope of this study shall be limited to young people both student and staff of Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta. The researcher shall define various major content of the research project topic: attitudinal response of student in tertiary institution to HIV/AIDS educations. Here the researcher shall review the work of previous writers, researcher, professional in the field of primary and health education, orientation agency and parastatals. The study area of this research is Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta.
