AUTOMATED HOSPITAL OUT-PATIENT RECORD MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM (A CASE STUDY OF ANIBETO HOTEL, IKOT EKPENE)
ABSTRACT
This research work is focused on automated hospital out-patient record management information system using General Hospital in Ikot Ekpene as a case study. The research work was necessary because of the problems of the existing system. The challenges here are tailored on different nurses and doctors who are not either competent enough or lazy to do their jobs on call. The outpatient have different information in their files thereby making it so difficult to go through them at different times to solve any pressing problems that that arose in the existing system. The current system is designed to collect all the needed output and information through data entry to a database for tomorrow referencing. The significance of the study are it enable the hospital to manage out-patients information professionally, it help in securing the medical record details of out-patients, it served as a management information system for effective decision making and it reduced accumulation of paper files and total dependence on paper files to access out-patient information. The programming language used is Visual Basic 6.0 and the database used is MYSQL. Findings revealed that an automated patient record management system aids easy storage, update and retrieval of patient information.
