CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT ON STUDENTS’ BIOLOGY ACHIEVEMENT OF SS1 STUDENTS IN YALA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF CROSS RIVER STATE

ABSTRACT

The aim of this study was to investigate the classroom management on biology achievement in Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State. To achieve the purpose of this study, four null hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The survey research design was considered most suitable for the study. A four point scale questionnaire and biology achievement test (BAT) were the instruments used for data collection. Pearson Product Moment Correlation statistical tool was used for data analysis. The result obtained from the analysis of data and testing of hypotheses revealed that there is no significant influence of teachers and students relationship and biology achievement of SS1 students in Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State, a significant influence of effective classroom management and biology achievement of SS1 students in Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State, there is no significant influence of teacher’s instructional skill and biology achievement of SS1 students in Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State and no significant relation of teachers motivational techniques and biology achievement of SS1 students in Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State. Based on these findings, it was recommended that the use of motivation techniques by teachers should be encouraged and sustained in order to make teaching and learning effective, thereby promoting students’ learning outcomes.
