ABSTRACT

The project design and implementation of an online exam management system (case study IMT Enugu) is meant to address issues of managing system during examination and since this is an online issue, that means the project is going to be a management that will take care of examination that is conducted online. This project is going to be designed using a web based application package that will be able to solver issues that takes care of management during examination condition. The output will be an online interface that will display all the services rendered by IMT and also show sample of how an examination is being managed.

ORGANIZATION OF WORK

This work is organized in seven chapters, chapter one deal on the introduction, aims and objectives, purpose of study, significance of the study, scope, limitation, assumption of study and definition of terms. The review of relevant literature was discussed in chapter two, chapter three comprises of the description and analysis of the existing system, fact finding method, organizational structure, objectives of the existing system, input, process and output analyses, information flow diagram, problems of the existing system, justification for the new system.

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

This project is all about the design and implementation of an online exam management system (case study IMT Enugu) which is used in IMT online examination board to monitor their examination and also to provide management for that particular examination.

Computers and web application brings a significant revolution in our social life and especially to our traditional mechanism of education.

The area of education enable us to access mass of information whose remarkable character is digital so that computer can recognize and deal with this kind of expression of information.

Digital campus construction is already on going in order to catch the new trend in quality education. The main function of digital campus is  to cover distance education. The digital campus information management system. Office automation system, administration examination system and virtual community such as online tutoring bulletin board system etc. with the intensification of distance web education, how to estimate learning effect locally is an important issue. Thus a web based examination  system which conducts exams through web will reduce a large proportion of work load on examination training and reviewing.

Networking institutes demonstration project is a comprehensive education system which utilizes information technology of the network to carry on college course to educate. It offer from the network classroom, essential study links discussing answering question and processing homework to examination to teachers and students. This system should also support management activity of the educational administration such as online course project, roll management follow up of quality etc.

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM

A critical look has been taken and the effective feasibility study conducted and the step taken been able to identify a number of problems that is affecting the effective managing of examination. The problems which are discovered during the feasibility study are as shown below:

Speed of communication and the number of stages in the communication chain.

In accurate calculations due to the use of manual method of doing it.

Feedback data on the measure used in the exercise are seldom if ever perfect.
