ABSTRACT

The purpose of the study is to computerize stock ordering system for Bubbles Plaza Enugu and to develop a computer package whereby the technique observed from the manual method can be improved on. It is a known fact that the manual method of stock ordering has been associated with a lot of inaccuracy in quality control and this has lead to early break down of parts when in service. The software when developed will facility and enhance the mode and methods of warehouse operation in the organization.

ORGANIZATION OF WORK   

This project work is primarily designed to give an insight to online stock ordering information business.

          Chapter one talks about introduction to online stock ordering information business, study of the problem and objectives as well as definition of the scope.

          Chapter two comprises the literature review. Chapter three gives the detailed information about the existing (old) system.

 while Chapter four and five deals with the design and implementation of the new system.

          Chapter six documentation of the project work, while  Chapter seven summaries, conclusion and suggestions were made.

1.0   INTRODUCTION

          Introduction of computers in our day to day activities has done a lot in improving the operations of our business world. The online business, different firms that are information technology inclined have implored the benefit of online business to boost their business.

          With the online stock ordering information system, different information are published online as relating to the number of items made available on the site. Individual and companies can order for stock online and have their request delivered to them in shortest time possible.

          The introduction of computer in stock ordering will enable importers know which and where their goods are kept, as it will always be stipulated on the bill of laden papers. Computer is hereby seen as a way of handling, by systematically organizing them, recording or making notations on them, following up with the appropriate action or the likes.

          The stocks are held for various among which are: –

(a)     To ensure unit sufficient goods are available to meet anticipated demand

(b)     To provide a better between production processes. This is applicable to

           work in project stocks which effectively decouple operation.

(c)     To meet possible shortage in future

(d)     To absorb seasonal fluctuation in usage or demand

(e)     To ensure production process to flow smoothly and efficiently

1.1     STATEMENT OF PROBLEM

          Owning to:

(i)      The difficulties people face in transferring information/data

(ii)      Difficulties people encountered when ordering for stock outside their

           immediate environment

(iii)     Time wasted in manual transferring of stock information

(iv)     Important nature of data/information in the growth of any organization

(v)     The urgent need of stock delivering in any organization when requested.

          The need arise for the development of an online stock ordering information system.

1.2           AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

          The aims and objectives of this project are listed below:

To develop software called Online Stock Ordering Information Business System that will replace the manual method of transferring stock information.

To maintain an efficient system of collection, sorting and delivery of stock nationwide.

Increase the operational efficiency and accuracy.

To eliminate the risk involved with the manual method of ordering for stocks or items.

 To save the time wasted with manual method of ordering for stock and items.

To reduce the operational cost.

To permit on-line time stock storage and information retrieval.

1.3   PURPOSE OF STUDY

          The main purpose of this study is to put to an end the difficulties people encountered when sending stock data/information or ordering for stock outside their immediate location. This is actualized by designing an online stock ordering information business system which is user friendly and interactive. By the time this software is designed and implemented, the difficulties encountered with manual method of transferring and receiving information will be eliminated.

1.4           SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

          With growth in information technology, the study offers numerous benefits to the Bubbles Plaza and to any organization that deals on stock data/information.

          Manual method of ordering will no longer be there again because information will be stored on the computer with the help of the online stock ordering information business system.

          Because of the easy to use nature of the online stock ordering information business system, any organization can easily buy it to make use of them.

1.5              SCOPE OF STUDY

          This project work is narrowed to Bubbles Plaza Enugu. It deals with the development of online stock ordering information business system to help in transferring of data/information and items.

1.6           LIMITATIONS OF STUDY

          Owing to the scope of this project work as stated above, this project work is limited to a online stock ordering information business system BUBBLES PLAZA ENUGU.

          It is important to mention here that time was a major constraint in the course of fact finding. It is also wise to mention here that some information we need to work with was not collected because of the unwillingness of the staff to review such information.

1.7           ASSUMPTION OF STUDY

          One of the major assumptions made in this project work is that manual methods of ordering for stock and items are ineffective, time wasting, prone to error and high level of energy dissipation.

          It is also assumed that with the level of development in information technology, there is a serious demand to join this trend of information technology.

          It is also assumed that online stock ordering information business system will motivates the staff to work more with easy and enhance their work.
