CHAPTER ONE

1.0              INTRODUCTION

As most nations of the world are becoming information technology inclined, Nigeria is not left behind. Even as most organizations and companies in the foreign countries have implemented information technology in their films, likewise most of Nigeria’s organizations and companies have also enjoyed the benefits of information technology.

Even as most foreign countries like America, China and India are experiencing information technology boom, Nigeria is yet to come to such level. With the communication satellite launched recently in our country will explore the hidden treasure of information technology.

As I consider the design and implementation of computerized School enrollment system, it is necessary to mention here that information technology have a lot to play in achieving this. Implementing computerized School enrollment system entails having access to internet, having a website and the place of strong and reliable database can not be over emphasized.

All these must be put into consideration and they are well treated in the subsequent section of this project work.

The difficulties students and staff of admission office usually face in any learning institution, made us to realize that computer assisted admission system is the best in processing students record in Asata primary school.  This will save our school the embarrassment caused by students complaints at the end of working day.

Our basic objective of designing and implementing computerized enrollment system is the development of data Base computer program that will enable the Register and admission officers to efficiently, accurately and effectively process and co-ordinate the various students activities in the institution without much difficulties with little time.

In view of this, admission officers must prepare for successful working relationship with an student information processing and in addition get their members of staff familiarized with the system for easy and effortless exercise that produce reliable output (result).

This project describes how much an students enrollment system is developed and how in particular it can be effectively used for the day to day running of the set-up.

1.1              STATEMENT OF PROBLEM

Owing to (i) the difficulties School encounter in manual filling and submission of enrollment forms (ii) time wasted in getting information from Asata primary school staffs on how to fill the form. (iii) Loss of some submitted forms due to mismanagement of school officers, the need arises for the development of computerized School enrollment system to alleviate these problems.
