CHAPTER ONE

1.1 INTRODUCTION

This research work was carried out at efficient commercial secondary school situated along Udo Obio Street Uyo effective and efficient assessment schematic and strategies. Enable staff to tailor learning to individual to elevation the appropriates of the wok and to evaluate their record keeping for student analysis.

The collection and management of students record keeping within technology project work is particularly challenging, and to assessment of several stages in needed to obtain and obstruct the unique and necessary feedback on student record management system.

The evolutionary roles of computer in a society is indeed a document in information technology involved the collection, re storage, processing, creating and communication of information, it is particularly noted for the accuracy, good storage and speed which information can be easily retrieves disseminated, distributed and transformed in any form.

The work computerized secondary school assessment and examination information system uses a case study of Efficient Secondary Commercial School, Uyo highlight the change from the existing manual system processing assessment and examination information to  use a computer based system for safe and faster approach of data. All data processing use a computerized and this one is not excepted

 1.2  STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The methodology of keeping record and assessment for secondary school may bring errors because the system that is use is not reliable, durable, secured enough for long term record keeping.

Handling of examination information by manual system is virtually replaced by electronic system updating of examination

Record and information in this system is very poor as a result of the manual system that is currently in operation. Student assessment result are not properly processed and updated.

Inefficiencies is rampant record are not properly processed waste of time, inaccuracy of result and insecurity of data are encountered.

This brought about the need to design faster processing, more effectives and efficient, secured data and accurate means of assessment and examination information system for secondary school.

 1.3 OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

The objective of this project therefore is to design, developed and implements computerized assessment and examination information system for this school to allow for.

  • To better and efficient method of correcting, storing and retrieving necessary information
  • To keratinized and eliminate of large paper work.
  • To enables a unique and efficient updating of assessment records.
  • To provide a means of easily accessible data based management of each student records.
  • To provide documentation and maintenances to the new system.
  • To makes easy to have immediate shares, access to necessary information on all individual student.
  • To implement the new system.
  • To quicken decision making based on retrieval of student records in a data based system.

1.4  SIGNIFICANT OF THE STUDY

The significant of this projects is to provide a reliable and efficient method of assessment of information to the management and staff of Efficient Secondary Commercial School, Uyo. It will help administration department of any secondary school to process the student result easily and in decision method since any data needed concerning student will be readily available.

Also it will help has source of information to carry person that may have interested in carry out research on similar project study under consideration.

Similar design and implementation of this system application will enhance similar organization for easily collection, development, implementation, storage, dissemination and communication as well as retrieval of data for accessing in considering information for decision making.

1.5  SCOPE OF STUDY

This work covers the collection, recording assessment operation and processing of efficient Secondary Commercial, School Uyo and dose not extend to other aspect of the school administration. Meanwhile, it can also be adopted by any other secondary school. It is an academic work base on the preliminary investigation process of system analysis, the sola objective of which is to design and develop a program which would be implemented to carry out the operation of assessment and examination system.

 1.6 LIMITATION OF THE STUDY

This unique work was seem to be abstract by the about mention of case study administration due to their schedule find it difficult to give necessary information on needed time. The such that have the stake in the right of accurate I information were not seem on schedule negotiated base and having confident to give out the information for security purpose which may result in breaching of private information.
