THE ROLE OF PHYSICS EDUCATION FOR TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA (A CASE STUDY OF TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS IN BENUE STATE)
ABSTRACT
This study was intended to evaluate the role of physics education for technological development in Nigeria. This study was guided by the following
objectives; To assess the level of physics education in Nigerian educational institutions. To examine the factors militating against effective teaching of physics
education in Nigeria.To examine the impact of physics education on technological development in Nigeria.To examine the need for effective
technological development in Nigeria.To recommend ways of improving technological development through education.The study employed the descriptive and
explanatory design; questionnaires in addition to library research were applied in order to collect data. Primary and secondary data sources were used and
data was analyzed using the Pearson correlation statistical tool at 5% level of significance which was presented in frequency tables and percentage. The
respondents under the study were 100 lecturers of tertiary institutions in Benue state. The study findings revealed that there is a significant impact of physics education on technological development in Nigeria.
