INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of the  study

Among all business (Human, financial material and information). Human resources are the most important. If they are nurtured, cared for and supported they will provide valuable contribution to the enterprise Akindele (2007). This explains why companies of various size and scope invest lot of resources to make them efficient and effective for improved performance. However, firms are finding it difficult today to retain their employees, and this leaves a soaring experience which firms must bear to find a replacement (Akindele, 2007). Consequently, labour revenue issue was being generating heart discussion in the literature for the past decades due to psychological dimension on organizational significant and economic dimension. On nations (Long and Ajagbe 2012)

In all economic activities human effort is the key. It is the human Knowledge transferred into activity that give utilizes or value to all commodities. And that means who cultivates and whether he uses a hoe or tractor. It is the same who saw weeds, processes, store and sells. It is also steel. It postulates that who invents, designs, makes and operates machines in man who creates, transmits and seeks knowledge etc. Thus, every human endeavor here one earth has mans finger print. Thus without human effort which is considered vital for production so many managerial effort would be proved abortion. This effort also is usually called labour. Labour is the most important resources in organization. This is why labour is define as human effort both mental and physical assertion legitimately applied in production of goods and services so as to satisfy human needs for a reward known as wages and salaries.

In this sense, labour includes all labour semi skilled labour and unskilled which gear toward the production of goods and services to arm a living through their wages and salaries.

 1.2 Statement of the Problem

The problem of labour revenue attracts a reasonable percentage of attention in an organization because labour represents the life wire of any organization. The rate at which employee have organization is alarming, the type and number of works who are terminated or resigning their various jobs show how effective and efficient is the management in its operation which also determined the level of stability, growth and development of the organization. Although, in some organizations, there is extent to which mobility of workers is considered acceptable.

 1.3 Objective of the Study

The primary objective of this study is to examine the effort of labour revenue on the performance of an organization with reference to the Akwa Ibom State water corporation Based on the primary objective, the study aim to

  1. Find out the relationship between labour revenue and the performance of an organization.
  2. Find out the effect of labour revenue on the performances of an organization.
  3. Assess the extent of labour revenue in the production of goods and services of an organization.
  4. Find out variable that could help to combat against labour revenue of an organization.

 1.4 Research Questions

The research questions formulated were;

  1. What is the relationship between labour revenue and the performance of an organization?
  2. What is the effect of labour revenue on the performance of an organization?
  3. How the extent of labour revenue in the production of goods and services of an organization could be assessed?
  4. What are the variables that could help to combat labour revenue of an organization?

 

1.5 Research Hypothesis

The research hypotheses were formulated using null statements.

Ho: There is no significant relationship between labour revenue and the performances of an organization.

Ho: There is no significant effect of labour revenue on the performance of an organization.

 1.6 Significance of the Study

The study shall be significance because it will serve as a reference material to researchers. Also the study intends to be significant because it will attract other professionals to further their researcher based on the subject matters. Students in the department of business administration Uyo city polytechnic as well as take holders and management of Akwa Ibom State Water Corporation shall gain immensely from the study.

 1.7 Delimitation of the Study

The study’s boundary in Akwa Ibom State Water Corporation. Staff of different categories shall be interviewed on the effect of labour revenue on the performance of an organization.

 1.8 Limitation of the Study

The researcher was constrained by some factors. These were in the areas of finance time and in the retrieval of questionnaire.

Financially, the researcher experienced lack of fund and this hampered the effective research on the subject matter giving room for further researchers. Then, lack of time constituted another hindrance based on the researchers pre-occupation in other activities such as class attendance and other scholarly research. Lastly, the retrieval of questionnaire was another hindrance, due to the absence of most staff on duty post considering their nature of assignment which are based on field work.
