ABSTRACT

The researcher was moved into this study by the fact that impact of vocational training centers of secondary school manpower development in Yala Local Government Area would be significant to the youths, as it enhances performance. The purpose of the study was to survey the influence of vocational training centers in the teaching and learning of vocational subjects (A case study) of some selected workshops in Yala Local Government Area, of Cross River State. Four hypotheses were formulated for the study. A total of ten vocational training centers were randomly selected for the study in Yala Local Government Area. Questionnaire was developed for the workers and people who had already acquired vocational training administered by the researcher. The data collected was analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. From the result of study, it was revealed that the use of vocational training center in the secondary school manpower development in both rural and urban areas enhances workers skill acquisition performance. Also, the study revealed that both male and female workers enjoy the vocational training centers in teaching, which enhances skill. On the basis of this result, it was recommended that trainers/teacher should try to introduce the trainees to vocational centers. Trainers should encourage both male and female trainees to manipulate the importance of vocational training centers.  Trainers and trainees/apprentices should attend regular workshops and seminars on maintenance and repair of vocational training centers in the development of youths. Suggestions were also made for further studies.
