ABSTRACT

Children’s fashion is on the rise. With the contemporary socio-economic, political, and cultural diversity, fashion design has led us toward a broader field rapidly. Under the “people-oriented” principle, Fashion design which integrating the design concept of multi-angle, multi-paradigm and multi-aspect should be on the stand of severing people so as to meet people’s physiological and mental needs and to enrich people’s spiritual and material life for the purpose. Today, this has gotten into the world children. Therefore, this study seeks to discuss the emerging of children clothing in today’s fashion. This will be done through a discussion and analysis of the relationship between modern fashion and children clothing. The theoretical framework gives an overview of the relationship; it also provides the reader with a description of branding, consumer emerging process, competitive advantage, patronage. The methodology chapter provides a description of the method choices for this project; this study is done by a qualitative approach. The methodology chapter also consists of a part about secondary sources, interviews, different question types used in the interviews and source criticism. The empirical findings consist of information gathered from face to face interviews. In the analysis chapter there will be a discussion about the emerging of fashion into the world of children clothing  that are mentioned in the theoretical framework, this will be combined with the empirical information gained through personal interviews with the case study. There will also be an analysis and discussion about the design factors. The conclusion will conclude the analysis of the empirical and theoretical parts of this project and answer our research question. In the conclusion there is a description and summary of the various children clothing discussed in the theoretical chapter.

CHAPTER ONE

1.1 INTRODUCTION

Fashion is the prevailing style or custom, as in dress or behavior. Fashion means the usage accepted by those who want to be up-to-date. Fashion is the most general term and applies to any way of dressing, behaving, writing, or performing that is favored at any one time or place. The current fashion style often implies a distinctive fashion adopted by people of taste. a media baron used to traveling in style mode suggests the fashion of the moment among those anxious to appear elegant and sophisticated. Slim bodies are the mode at this resort vogue stresses the wide acceptance of a fashion.  Fashion, style, and fad mean the way that up-to-date people do things. Fashion is used of any custom (as a way of dressing or behaving) that is widely accepted at any one time or place. It was once the fashion for everyone to wear hats.

There are many theories about the origin of clothing. To sum up, it includes two aspects: Because of people’s physiological and psychological needs, clothing’s progress along with the development of human civilization for millions of thousands of years. Until now, its motive power does not change. That is to say, clothing is the physical form which is most close to human body. People’s demand for clothing is the direct reflection of the original material and spiritual needs of human beings. This fundamentally determines the nature of fashion design based on “people-oriented” and the overall development trend. But, along with the social material continuous abundance, it seems that the higher requirements of material and spiritual of clothing for human, the more difficult to meet. This put forward higher request to the designers who have entered or will enter the garment industry. There is no doubt that people need to think deeply about where is the future path of fashion design.
