THE IMPACT OF WORK ENVIRONMENT ON EMPLOYEE’S PRODUCTIVITY(A CASE STUDY OF HEROES WORLD HOTEL, UYO)
ABSTRACT
This study examined the impact of work environment on employee productivity using Heroes World Hotel as a case study. To achieve the objectives of the study, the study adopted survey research method, while the convenience sampling technique was used to select fifty (50) respondents as sample size for the study. Instrument for data collection was a self developed questionnaire, and the forms were personally administered. Data analysis technique employed was the descriptive statistics which involves the use of frequency tables and simple percentages. The study revealed that the impact of work environment on employee performance or productivity are; employee motivation, employee training and employee job satisfaction. It was also found out that motivation is a major instrument for employee performance or productivity. The study recommended that the management should try as much as possible to build a work environment that attracts, retain and motivates its employees so as to help them work comfortable and increase organization productivity, the organization should have a good program in place for their employees work life balance as this can be a great factor to motivate and retain them, periodic meetings with employees to air their grievances to management will serve as a motivating factor to the employees. Finally, management should find ways and means of communicating their goals and strategies to their employee in order to achieve what the organization is in business for.
