INFLUENCE OF VOCATIONAL COUNSELLING AND CAREER CHOICE OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN ABI LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF CROSS RIVER STATE

 ABSTRACT

The main purpose of the study was to investigate the Influence of Vocational Counseling and Career Choice of Secondary School Students in Abi Local Government Area of Cross River State. To achieve the purpose of this study, four research questions were generated to direct the studies. To facilitate the discussion of findings literature review was done according to the variables and research questions directing the study. Survey research design was considered appropriate for the study. A total sample of one hundred (100) students was randomly selected for the study. The selection was done through the simple random sampling techniques. The questionnaire was instrument used for data collection. The data were collected personally by the researcher by administering them in this sample schools. The chi-square (x2) statistical analysis was adopted to test the hypothesis under study. The result of the analysis was presented in tables. The findings of the study revealed that the students ability, peer group, guidance and counseling in school and subject studied actually influences the career choice of secondary schools students in     Abi local government area of cross river state. Based on the conclusion of the study, recommendations and suggestions for further studies were made.
