Studying the interactions between computer science (informatics) and society is increasingly becoming important, specifically with a view to the rapidly progressing computerisation of processes in business, education and even leisure, and the so-called information society. For many of the German universities, however, teaching in this area turns out to be a difficult task, mainly because the available personnel doesn’t feel qualified for this topic. University of Tubingen and DIFF (German Institute for Research in Distance Education) have therefore started an exploratory project aiming at the creation and trial of material suitable for self-study. In this paper, we outline the general setting of the planned course and describe our planned curriculum.
