1.0       INTRODUCTION

1.1     BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

A skin infection is an infection of the skin in humans and other animals, that can also affect the associated soft tissues as loose connective tissues and mucous membranes. They comprises of category of infections termed skin and skin structure infections or skin and soft tissue infections (Stevens et al., 2014) and acute bacterial skin and oft skin infections. They are distinguished from dermatitis (inflammation of skin). The skin is the largest organ of the human body. Its main function is to protect the body from infection. And sometimes the skin itself becomes infected and are caused by a wide variety of germs and symptoms can vary from mild to serious in which the mild infection are treatable with over the counter medication and home remedies whereas other infection may require strict medical attention.
