To respond to the project recently launched by China Ministry of Education to reform the college English teaching at institutions of higher vocational technical learning, Shanghai Second Polytechnic University is taken as an example to analyze its current situation and problems of College English teaching. In addition, proposals and strategies concerning the reform in teaching materials, methodologies and approaches, teaching aids, examinations, scaling system and credit system, investment, administration and so on are put forward.Â
