ABSTRACT
This project work is on online Igbo
dictionary, a new system that will help unanimously on knowing the meaning of
some Igbo language especially when one is online. The new computerized Igbo
dictionary was designed in order to solve the problems of not knowing the
meaning of some Igbo language when one is Browsing the Internet for
information. The new system allows a user to type in a particular language the
person is looking for. Online Igbo language dictionary tackles the problem of
unlimited meaning of some word and it will be a fast way of searching the
meaning of Igbo word.
ORGANIZATION OF WORK
This work is organized to have a successful completion of a computerized physical planning system.
This work is divided into seven (7) chapters:
The first chapter deals with the introduction, statement of the problem, aims and objectives, purpose of the study, significance of the study, scope/delimitation, limitation/constraints, assumption of the study, definition of terms.
The next chapter deals with the literature reviews stating the works of eminent writers who have contributed efforts in so many ways.
The third chapter describes and analysis of the existing system. this entails the fact finding, method used, the organizational structure, the objective of the existing system, input, process and output analysis, information flow diagram, problems of the existing system and the justification of the new system.
Chapter four takes care of the design of the new system which comprises the design standard output specification design, input specification design, the file design procedure and system flow chart the system requirements for easy design of the system which involves the hardware, software, operation personnel requirements.
Chapter five emphasizes on implementation of design and program design, program flow chart, pseudocode, coding, test data/test run, user training – an overview, cutover process.
Chapter six contains the program and user documentation.
Chapter seven gives recommendation summary and conclusion

CHAPTER ONE: INTRODUCTION
1.1 INTRODUCTION
Computer can only understand one language which is machine language. Meanwhile programs written in other languages such as higher-level language, low-level language or assembly language are not understood by the computer and as a result they cannot be directly executed. Likewise our society brims with people of different tongues and these different tongues becomes a barrier between potential business partners and renders also a setback to the business world.
Hence, these limitations brings about the need for language translator which will convert other non-computer oriented language to computer language and which also will concert a source language to eg. Universal language (English language). As a result of this a program called language translator/interpreter was developed so as to facilitate the conversion of different languages. There are various types of language translators viz:
- Interpreters
- Compilers
- Assemblers.
A language in which each statement has a single meaning is said to be formal. A programming language is therefore formal statement in which intermediate notation between national language and the formal language may be called precise if they are not strictly formal but leaves little room for ambiguity. A language specifically designed to describe language is called a metal language.
1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The world is filled with people of different culture and language who come together for buying and selling (Business). Due to this language barriers there is decrease in the flow of information and the level of interaction among the people and this act as a kind of obstacle to business transaction. In Igbo land, Igbo language is used and understood by the citizens and only few outsiders where able to comprehend it. The same thing applied to Igbo people in other countries and places like Hausa & Youruba.
To remedy this language problems, English language was made the centre and the universal language which will be understood by everybody irrespective of the country.
         The discovery of language translator had really solve a very big problem for the society. Now, with the help of translator, there is effectiveness in communication. People of different tongues can how exchange information and ideas as a result of translator. Today many great authors are writing their books in home and foreign language via the help of language translator.
