INTRODUCTION

The rapid growth in technology have compelled man-kind to look inward finding alternative means of accomplishing most his strenuous task.

1.1    STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

After studying the present distribution system of the Nigeria Bottling company PLC, I discovered a lot of problems as a result of its manual distribution system. they are as follows.

(a)      Inability to meet customers emergency needs.

(b)      Irregular supplies, transportation made, plant houses and store locations.

Just as marketing concept is receiving increased recognition, business firms are paying attention to the distribution concept. Distribution is an area of potentially, high cost savings and improved customer satisfaction. When order processors, warehouses, planners, managers and transportation manager make decisions, they one another’s cost and ability to handle demand. Physical distribution concept calls for treating all these decision within unified frame work. The task is to design a distribution system that will minimize the total cost of providing a desired customers services.

(c)      Insufficient drinks for customers of excessive drinks.

(d)      Long hours of search to get customers

(e)      High distribution costs.

(f)       Time wastage.

Due to the problems mentioned above, there is need for computerization of the stock and product distribution system for the NBC PLC so as to keep up to the present standard.
