THE ROLE OF A NUTRITIONIST IN THE IMPROVEMENT OF PEOPLES EATING HABIT  (A CASE STUDY AMAUZARI IN ISIALA MBANO LGA)

ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to determine the role of a Nutritionist in the improvement of peoples eating habit using Amauzari in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State as a study area. The study looked at the nutritional problems found in this area and determined factors that influence the consumption pattern in this area, as well as suggested ways of improving their eating habit. The researcher used questionnaires as instrument of data collection, while some people were interviewed orally. Five villages were randomly chosen out of 22 communities in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area in Imo State. The study revealed that the villagers eating pattern/habit is very poor. They eat what they like without considering its nutritive value. This is as a result of lack of knowledge of nutritional requirements. Hence, the need for a Nutritionist in such an area to inculcate in them the proper eating habit for a better health.
