ABSTRACT
This study examines the impact of CBN cashless policy in banking sector on Nigeria. The specific objectives of the study were to examine the impact of the cashless policy on the economic growth of Nigeria, to examine the various effect of cashless policy on economic growth in Nigeria and to proffer suggestions on how cashless policy affect foreign direct investment in Nigeria. The study adopted a survey research design employing a well-structured questionnaire. A total number of 300 respondents was randomly sampled of which 140 finally constituted the total sample for the study. Data from the study were analyzed using the chi-square statistical technique. The result of the analysis revealed that:
Cashless policy has contributed significantly to employment generation in Nigeria. Also, it has contributed significantly to the improvement in the income level of the people in Nigeria. In addition, it has led to a reduction in the poverty level in Nigeria. It has also raised the standard and efficient performance of the banking sector in Nigeria. It was recommended that government should relax stringent requirement by banks as regards cashless policy, efforts at generating steady power supply should be doubled.Also, government should do more to reduce the high rate of tax charged on the individuals who carry out various transactions in the bank.
