THE IMPACT OF THE AGRICULTURAL CREDIT GUARANTEE SCHEME FUND ACGSF IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE AGRICULTURAL SECTOR.

ABSTRACT

The study focused on the impact of the agricultural credit guarantee scheme fund (ACGSF) in the development of the agricultural sector. The specific objectives where to ascertain the impact of this credit from the scheme crop production, livestock production. The study also examined the effect of lending rate on agricultural development. The study used secondary data sourced from CBN statistical bulletin. Multiple lease square regression techniques was adopted to test for the relationship between the dependent and independent variables: the study revealed that loans from the scheme to the crop and livestock production had a positive impact with agricultural output therefore they impacted significantly to its development. However, the study reveals a negative relationship between lending rate and agricultural development. It was recommended that government should invest more funds and encourage participating bank to give out more credit to eligible farmer.
