ABSTRACT
This study focuses on the impact of youth organization in community development in Akwa Ibom State using Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area as a case study. The major instrument of data collection was questionnaire and simple random sampling technique used in selecting respondents for data collection. Data analysis tool involved simple percentage and simple frequency tables. The study draws a sample of 100 respondents from different wards in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area. Out of the 100 questionnaire that was administered to the respondents, 80 Questionnaire was retrieved and used for data analysis. The research work was divided into five chapters and four research questions were raised and analyzed which the result showed that youth organization have contributed to community development in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, the youth organization have played vital roles in sustaining peace and unity in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area. Finally, the study also revealed the problems and solutions of youth organization in community development. Â The study therefore recommended that there is need in engaging youth in recreational activities that enhance social cohesion. This includes development of community based infrastructure, promoting arts, culture, sport and overall entertainment of youth, that Government should progressively facilitate inclusion of youth representatives in national structures that seeks to develop them and their communities and that engaging youth in meaningful activities that benefit their communities while developing their abilities and skills will help build a cohesive society and inculcating a strong sense of responsibility and further provide life-changing opportunities for the youth.
