ABSTRACT
This research work focused on the development of a web-based business directory information system using corporate affairs commission, Uyo as a case study. The study was necessary because of the problems of the existing system which are absence of online presence by business enterprises in Ikot Ekpene, low level of patronage due to few customer awareness of the existence of business enterprises in Ikot Ekpene, high cost of business owners having their own web site discourages them from having a web presence and individuals often search for businesses in Ikot Ekpene online to know their location, services rendered, etc. The objectives of the study are to design a system that will facilitate registration of business enterprises in Ikot Ekpene under their various categories, to implement a system that will help boost the patronage of business enterprises in Ikot Ekpene by giving them web presence, to create a system that will make it easy for business enterprises to register their business directory easily and to implement a system that will facilitate searching for business premises in Ikot Ekpene. The significance of the study is that it will enable business enterprises to have an online presence so as to increase patronage, it will benefit the public as they can easily search and locate a registered business enterprise that have the goods and services they want and it will help promote local business enterprises. The methodology employed for the development of the system is the spiral development. The programming technologies are HTML, CSS, PHP and MYSQL.
