ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to investigate the Role of Effective Leadership in achieving organizational objective. A case study of Federal Psychiatric Hospital, Calabar. The problem was to what extent do managers recognize the fact that employees are synonymous with organization and that they should be adequately motivated so that they can give their best to ensure high performance. The other objectives of the study include, to examine the role of effective leadership style behaviour in achievement of organization objectives; The data collection instrument used was a structure questionnaire drawn on a 4-point scale. The hypotheses were in null forms to aid in the study. The following hypotheses were; there is no significance relationship between effective leadership and the achievement of organization objective, the role of leadership communication does not have any significant relationship with the achievement of organization objective in Psychiatric Hospital Calabar. The result of the hypotheses shows that there is a significant relationship between the role of leadership and achievement of organizational objectives. Based on the findings of the study, the following recommendations were made; those in position of authority should show leadership by example as it is a major pre requisite for any successful organization, Government should act what they preach by showing exemplary character/behaviour, effective leaders should avoid vices such as corruption nepotism, favouritism and tribalism and discourage all forms of hypocrisy and sycophancy.     Â
