LOCAL GOAT MEAT
Abstract
This study was carried out to determine the heavy metals in liver and kidneys tissues of local and Hausa goat meat obtained from Abia – okpo Itak Inyang market, Ikot Osurua, Ikot Ekpene in Awa Ibom State, using atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS). The heavy metals in the liver of local goat meat, thus, Cd:0.05, Fe:10.0, Cr:0.34, Ni:0.14, Pb:0.14, Co:0.12. The heavy metals in liver of Hausa goat meat thus, Cd:0.06, Fe:21.4, Cr:0.53, Ni:0.16, Pb:0.19, As:0.04, Co:0.09. The heavy metals in the kidney of local goat meat thus Cd:0.16, Fe:24.3, Cr:0.45, Ni:0.27, Pb:0.20, As:0.03, Co:0.12.
