DETERMINATION OF HEAVY METAL IN THE LIVER AND KIDNEY OF HAUSA AND

LOCAL GOAT MEAT

Abstract

This study was carried out to determine the heavy metals in liver and kidneys tissues of local and Hausa goat meat obtained from Abia – okpo Itak Inyang market, Ikot Osurua, Ikot Ekpene in Awa Ibom State, using atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS). The heavy metals in the liver of local goat meat, thus, Cd:0.05, Fe:10.0, Cr:0.34, Ni:0.14, Pb:0.14, Co:0.12. The heavy metals in liver of Hausa goat meat thus, Cd:0.06, Fe:21.4, Cr:0.53, Ni:0.16, Pb:0.19, As:0.04, Co:0.09. The heavy metals in the kidney of local goat meat thus Cd:0.16, Fe:24.3, Cr:0.45, Ni:0.27, Pb:0.20, As:0.03, Co:0.12. The a heavy metal in the kidney of Hausa goat meat thus Cd:0.21, Fe:35.0, Cr:0.28, Ni:0.36, Pb:0.07, As:0.06, Co:0.15,
