ABSTRACT
This study dealt with an investigation into special educators and academic learning outcome of students with visual impairment in Umuka Okposi, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. Students with visual impairment in the study area have been found to lag behind academically due to unidentified reasons. This calls for a research in the area. To achieve this, the researcher reviewed literatures relevant to the problem and thereafter, formulated questionnaire using descriptive survey design to seek the opinions of students with visual impairment and their trainers. Mean score was used to compute the responses of the respondents and chi-square was used for testing the hypotheses formulated. The sample size consists of 78 respondents. The research findings revealed that special educators need to ensure students with visual impairment have the required learning materials, special educator is to know how to assess skills and deliver instruction to enable the students have the real knowledge and not all teachers that have knowledge in Braille.Recommended among others area that there is urgent need for government to recruit special educators who are qualified in the study area if they want equal educational opportunities, qualified teachers should be employed in to take care of different needs of the students with visual impairment and prompt payment of salaries should be done. By so doing, teachers will be motivated to teach the students.
