ABSTRACT

The research sought to determine the relationship between the transactional and transformational leadership styles on employees’ task performance using evidence from Ghana Cocoa Baord (COCOBOD). The methodology of this study primarily utilized the quantitative approach. Data was gathered from 127 respondents selected from the organisation using purposive and convenience sampling techniques. The instruments used self-administered close-ended questionnaires. Ethical considerations were strictly observed. The Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient (r), Simple Regression analysis and Independent t Test were used for the data analyses. The results of the study showed a significant positives relationship between transformational leadership style and employees task performance Contrarily, a negative relationship was found between transactional leadership style and employees task performance. These findings were discussed in light of current literature and relevant theories. It was recommended that management of the organisation consider training the organisation’s managers on leadership.
