ABSTRACT

Hormones is any member of a class of signaling molecules in multicellular organisms that are transported to distant organs for proper metabolism. Growth hormones is synthesized and secreted by the somatotrophy cells of the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland. Its actions involves multiple organs and systems, affecting postnatal longitudinal growth as well as protein, lipid and carbohydrate metabolism. Growth hormone hyper secretion results in gigantism a condition associated with significant morbidity and mortality, while growth hormone deficiency results in retardation in children and adult. Clinical features like diagnosis and management are used in this condition.

INTRODUCTION

Hormone is any member of a class of signaling molecules in multicellular organisms that are transported to distant organs to regulate physiology and behaviour. Hormones are required for the correct development of animals, plants and fungi.
