ABSTRACT

This research project aims to explore the digital skills strategies employed by educators in universities in the South-South region of Nigeria for teaching business education in the new normal. With the shift to online and remote learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this study seeks to identify the digital skills required by educators, examine the strategies adopted for teaching business education, assess the challenges and opportunities associated with digital skill acquisition and utilization, and propose recommendations for enhancing digital skills in the teaching of business education courses.

A mixed-methods research design will be employed, utilizing surveys, interviews, and classroom observations to collect data from educators in universities. The research objectives include identifying the digital skills required by educators for teaching business education, examining the strategies employed for teaching in the new normal, assessing the challenges and opportunities associated with digital skill acquisition and utilization, and proposing recommendations for enhancing digital skills.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the digital skills strategies employed by educators in universities in the South-South region of Nigeria for teaching business education in the new normal. The research will identify the specific digital skills required by educators, such as proficiency in learning management systems, online collaboration tools, multimedia tools, and data analysis software. Additionally, the study will examine the strategies adopted by educators for teaching business education in the new normal, including instructional design, content delivery methods, assessment techniques, and student engagement strategies. Furthermore, the research will assess the challenges and opportunities associated with digital skill acquisition and utilization, considering factors such as access to technology, training and support for educators, digital divide issues, and pedagogical considerations. Based on the findings, recommendations will be proposed for enhancing digital skills in the teaching of business education courses, including professional development programs, collaborative initiatives among universities, and resource allocation for technology infrastructure.
