ABSTRACT

The digital revolution has transformed various aspects of society, including the field of education. In the context of business education, the influence of digitalization on skills acquisition among students in public universities in South East Nigeria is a topic of growing importance. This research project aims to investigate the impact of digitalization on skills acquisition among business education students in public universities in the South East region of Nigeria.

A quantitative research approach will be employed, utilizing surveys and statistical analysis to gather and analyze data. The research objectives include assessing the level of digitization in business education programs, examining the perceived impact of digitization on skills acquisition among students, identifying the specific digital tools and resources utilized, and exploring the challenges and opportunities associated with digitalization in business education.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the influence of digitalization on skills acquisition among business education students in public universities in South East Nigeria. The research will assess the current level of digitalization in business education programs, including the availability and utilization of digital tools, learning management systems, online resources, and virtual learning environments. It will examine students’ perceptions regarding the impact of digitalization on their skills acquisition, including critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and digital literacy. Additionally, the research will identify challenges and opportunities associated with digitalization, such as infrastructure limitations, faculty training, and pedagogical adaptation.

The implications of this research extend to educators, policymakers, curriculum developers, and students in the field of business education. The findings will inform educators and curriculum developers about the potential benefits of digitalization in enhancing skills acquisition among business education students. Policymakers can utilize the research findings to develop policies that promote the integration of digital tools and resources in business education programs and address infrastructure and training needs. Students can benefit from the research findings by experiencing enhanced skills acquisition and improved readiness for the digital workplace.
