ABSTRACT

This research project aims to examine the influence of entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial motivation, self-efficacy, and intention among Nigerian polytechnic undergraduates. The study seeks to explore the effects of entrepreneurship education on the attitudes, beliefs, and aspirations of students, with a specific focus on their motivation to engage in entrepreneurial activities, self-efficacy in entrepreneurial tasks, and intention to start their own businesses.

A quantitative research design will be employed, utilizing surveys and statistical analysis. The research objectives include assessing the impact of entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial motivation, examining the relationship between entrepreneurship education and self-efficacy in entrepreneurship, exploring the influence of entrepreneurship education on students’ intention to start their own businesses, and identifying the factors that mediate or moderate the relationship between entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial outcomes.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the influence of entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial motivation, self-efficacy, and intention among Nigerian polytechnic undergraduates. The research will assess the impact of entrepreneurship education programs, including curriculum content, teaching methods, and experiential learning opportunities, on students’ motivation to pursue entrepreneurial activities. Additionally, the research will examine the relationship between entrepreneurship education and self-efficacy, considering factors such as knowledge acquisition, skill development, and confidence building. Furthermore, the research will explore the influence of entrepreneurship education on students’ intention to start their own businesses, assessing factors such as perceived feasibility, desirability, and social support. The research will also investigate potential mediators or moderators, such as gender, prior entrepreneurial experience, and family background, that may affect the relationship between entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial outcomes.

The implications of this research extend to polytechnic educators, policymakers, and aspiring entrepreneurs. The findings will inform educators about the effectiveness of entrepreneurship education in promoting entrepreneurial motivation, self-efficacy, and intention among students, allowing them to tailor their instructional approaches to better support entrepreneurship development. Policymakers can utilize the research findings to design and implement policies that promote entrepreneurship education and support aspiring entrepreneurs in Nigeria. Aspiring entrepreneurs can benefit from the research findings by understanding the influence of entrepreneurship education on their motivation, self-efficacy, and intention, providing them with valuable insights for their entrepreneurial endeavours.
