CHAPTER ONE

1.1 Background to the Study
Culture assimilation occurs when there is a resemblance of culture among two or more ethnic groups. This is often gotten from some factors like marriage, religion practice and even gender influence. This type of cultural experience has come to stay in Nigeria and to an extent have created peace harmony and make those involved, to embraced other culture because of the affinity stemming from marriage and other factors. Looking at the subject matter objectively, cultural assimilation has gone a long way to promote unity and oneness among Nigerians, but the influence of gender and marriage on the subject matter remains the major aim of this research work.
Research has shown that children in a multilineal household are altogether more cumbersome/complicated than children in a same race household. Another striking issue is that children whose parents are involved in intercultural marriages are exposed to cultural practices of either one or both of the parents in respect to their ethnicity.
