ABSTRACT
This research work focused on development of an online civil servants leave information management system using Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic as a case study. The research was motivated by the existing problems in management of leave information in the establishment unit of the institution. Problems identified are too much paper work due to manual process of applying for leave and approving leave, absence of a computerized leave management system, inability to easily get reports on leave of employees. In view of these problems, the objectives of the study are: to design an online system that will enable registration of leave, to implement a system that can be used to check and update leave registration details, to implement a system that can be used to maintain a database of leave records so that needed reports about leave can be easily retrieved. The significance of the research work is that it will facilitate proper management of leave information of civil servants, it will reduce the paperwork involved in the management of leave information, it will enable the establishment unit working on leave information to operate professionally. The design methodology used is Object Oriented Analysis and Design Methodology (OOADM). The programming languages chosen for the development of the system are HTML, Java script, PHP (pHp-hypertext processor) and MYSQL. The system enables the establishment unit to operate professionally by providing a customized application to help manage leave information of employees online.
