ABSTRACT
This research work examines the automated library management information system, using Heritage polytechnic, Eket as the case study. MultiÂmedia library management system is an information technology system that enables students, lecturers and other researchers to be able to lend or borrow multimedia materials and textbooks from, the library electronically through the administration of the library management. Before the integration of this system in the library, several challenges has flawed the adequate management of the conventional library in the polytechnic, issues such as theft and loss of library materials, time consumption in the general process of textbook search by student and. lecturers, poor standard, form of mechanism being employed in cataloging of books by library staff etc. This new system after completion will basically bring the various challenges listed to rest thereby creating convenience, improved library and academic security. The primary source of material for this research was gotten from the Heritage polytechnic, Eket while the secondary source was gotten from the internet and other journals. Visual Basic .Net [Express Edition 9.0] was use in developing this application. MultiÂmedia library management system is very useful for managing the surging number of demand of textbooks and multimedia materials and content in the library so as to eliminate the irregularities that do occur in the library.
