ABSTRACT
The economic importance of rice cultivation to the people of Ekureku. Being the most dominant economic activity of the people, conscious effort was made to highlights its mode of production, its impact on the socio-economic development of the people. The purpose of this research through the aid of primary and secondary sources, i discovered that so many farmers especially in the rural areas are faced with the challenges of accessing modernized implements to execute their work. The issue of transportation which is a major challenge in marketing their produce beyond their immediate environment. However, in order to improve rice cultivation in Nigeria, government must encourage the local farmers by providing modernized farming implements as well as educate the farmers on how to undergo the process of farming to meet the demands of their consumers and boast the economy of the nation.
