ABSTRACT

This research project aims to explore the enhancement of information and communication technology-based instruction for the sustainability of business education programs in the new normal, with a focus on empirical evidence from Rivers State, Nigeria. The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the adoption of technology in education, making it imperative to assess the effectiveness and sustainability of information and communication technology (ICT)-based instruction in business education. This study seeks to investigate the strategies employed to enhance ICT-based instruction, examine the experiences and perceptions of educators and students, assess the impact of these strategies on learning outcomes and program sustainability, and propose recommendations for further improvement in the context of Rivers State.

A mixed-methods research design will be employed, utilizing surveys, interviews, and classroom observations to collect data from business educators, students, and educational administrators. The research objectives include exploring the strategies employed to enhance ICT-based instruction in business education, examining the experiences and perceptions of educators and students regarding these strategies, assessing the impact of these strategies on learning outcomes and program sustainability, and proposing recommendations for further improvement.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing empirical evidence on the enhancement of ICT-based instruction in business education programs in Rivers State. The research will identify the specific strategies employed, such as online learning platforms, video conferencing, multimedia resources, and virtual simulations. Additionally, the study will examine the experiences and perceptions of educators and students regarding these strategies, considering factors such as ease of use, engagement, interaction, and support. Furthermore, the research will assess the impact of these strategies on learning outcomes and program sustainability, exploring indicators such as student performance, satisfaction, retention, and future employability. Based on the findings, recommendations will be proposed for further improvement, encompassing faculty development, infrastructure investment, curriculum integration, and policy support.

The implications of this research extend to business educators, students, educational institutions, policymakers, and educational technology providers. The findings will provide business educators with insights into the strategies employed to enhance ICT-based instruction, guiding their instructional practices and professional development efforts. Students can benefit from the research findings by understanding the impact of these strategies on their learning experiences and outcomes. Educational institutions can utilize the research findings to inform decision-making processes, resource allocation, and policy development related to ICT integration in business education programs. Policymakers can consider the implications of the research when formulating policies and initiatives that support the sustainability of ICT-based instruction. Educational technology providers can utilize the research findings to tailor their solutions to the specific needs and challenges of business education programs
