ABSTRACT

In the rapidly evolving digital era, the digital readiness of educators plays a crucial role in preparing students for gainful employment. This research project aims to gauge the digital readiness of business education lecturers for facilitating students’ skill acquisition for gainful employment.

A mixed-methods research design will be employed, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews. The research objectives include assessing the current level of digital readiness among business education lecturers, identifying the digital skills necessary for facilitating students’ skill acquisition, exploring the challenges and barriers faced by lecturers in developing digital competencies, and proposing strategies for enhancing digital readiness among lecturers.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the digital readiness of business education lecturers and its impact on students’ skill acquisition for gainful employment. The research will assess the current level of digital readiness among lecturers, including their proficiency in using educational technology tools, digital content creation, online teaching platforms, and digital assessment methods. It will identify the specific digital skills necessary for facilitating students’ skill acquisition, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, digital literacy, communication, and collaboration. Additionally, the research will explore the challenges and barriers faced by lecturers in developing digital competencies, such as limited access to technology, inadequate training opportunities, and resistance to change. It will propose strategies for enhancing digital readiness among lecturers, including professional development programs, collaborative learning communities, and supportive institutional policies.

The implications of this research extend to business education lecturers, administrators, policymakers, and teacher training institutions. The findings will inform lecturers about their digital readiness levels and the specific skills required to effectively prepare students for gainful employment in the digital age.
