ABSTRACT
This study examined the impact of power supply on the performance of small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs) using selected firms in IkotEkpene as a case study. To accomplish the research objectives, the study adopted the survey research design while the convenience sampling technique was used to select fifty (50) respondents as sample size for the study. Instrument of the study was a self-developed questionnaire and the forms were personally administered. Data analysis technique employed was the descriptive statistics which involves the use of simple percentage and frequency tables. The study revealed that the impact of power supply on the performance of small and medium scale enterprises are: to facilitate production, profit maximization, efficiency and preservation purpose. The study also revealed that the possible remedies to factors militating against power supply on performance of SMEs are protection of power equipment, facilitates and regular maintenance of power installation. It was recommended that the regulating bodies responsible for energy supply should protect power equipment and facilities, keep regular maintenance of power installations and make sure the power supply is decentralized to all state in Nigeria. Government should make provision for basic infrastructures, good power supply, to curb the challenges of running small business in Nigeria.
