ABSTRACT

This research project examines the impact of staff development programs on the job performance of business education lecturers in tertiary institutions in Bauchi State, Nigeria. The study aims to assess the effectiveness of staff development initiatives in enhancing the professional competence and job performance of business education lecturers.

A mixed-methods research design will be employed, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews. The research objectives include evaluating the participation and satisfaction levels of business education lecturers in staff development programs, assessing the perceived impact of these programs on job performance, and identifying factors that influence the effectiveness of staff development initiatives.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the impact of staff development programs on the job performance of business education lecturers. The research will evaluate the participation and satisfaction levels of lecturers in various staff development activities, including workshops, seminars, conferences, and professional training programs. Additionally, the research will assess the perceived impact of these programs on job performance, examining factors such as pedagogical skills, subject knowledge, instructional techniques, classroom management, student engagement, and research productivity. Furthermore, the research will identify factors that influence the effectiveness of staff development initiatives, including institutional support, resource allocation, program design, and lecturer motivation.

The implications of this research extend to tertiary institutions, faculty development units, policymakers, and business education lecturers in Bauchi State, Nigeria. The findings will inform tertiary institutions about the effectiveness of staff development programs in enhancing the job performance of business education lecturers, enabling them to make informed decisions regarding the design and implementation of professional development initiatives. Faculty development units can utilize the research findings to evaluate and improve the quality of staff development programs, ensuring they meet the specific needs of business education lecturers. Policymakers can use the research findings to develop policies that promote the professional growth and development of lecturers in tertiary institutions.
