ABSTRACT

This research project aims to explore the perceptions of business educators regarding the digital skills required by business education students for employment in a rapidly changing world. The study focuses on understanding the perspectives of educators regarding the digital competencies that are deemed essential for success in the evolving job market.

A qualitative research approach will be employed, utilizing interviews and focus group discussions with business educators from various educational institutions. The research objectives include identifying the digital skills considered important by educators, exploring their views on the integration of digital skills in business education curricula, and examining their perceptions of the challenges and opportunities associated with developing digital competencies among students.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the perspectives of business educators regarding the digital skills required for employment in a changing world. The research will identify the specific digital skills that educators perceive as crucial for business education students, such as proficiency in data analysis, digital marketing, information technology, project management, and communication tools. Additionally, the research will delve into educators’ views on the integration of digital skills within business education curricula, including their opinions on the adequacy of current programs and the potential need for curriculum revisions. Furthermore, the research will shed light on the challenges and opportunities perceived by educators in developing digital competencies among students, such as access to technology, training and support, evolving industry demands, and the role of partnerships with industry stakeholders.

The findings will inform business education institutions and curriculum developers about the digital skills deemed important by educators, enabling them to align curricula with the demands of the evolving job market. Employers can utilize the research findings to gain insights into the expectations of educators and better understand the digital competencies that business education graduates bring to the workplace. Policymakers can use the research findings to shape policies that promote the integration of digital skills in business education programs and facilitate collaboration between academia and industry
