ABSTRACT
This study aimed at accessing systematically the influence of jim jam cartoon of DSTV channel cartoon (“war” and “superman”) on criminal behavior among children in Ini Local Government Area. Thus the objectives of the study were to systemically evaluate the overall influence of cartoon (war and superman) among children, and to also checkmate the devise means whereby the study would help in containing and managing television cartoon (war and superman) meance among children. In the course of this study, three research questions were asked in order to guide the study and these were; do children in Ini Local Government Area watch cartoon (war and superman)? Do children spend more time watching cartoon than studying or playing with other children? Do children who watch this cartoon influence by what they watch The theory most suited for this survey was the bullet theory media. According to bullet and needle theory, mass media has a direct, immediate and powerful effect on audiences. A survey method was used to ascertain the influence of cartoon viewing among children in Ini Local Government Area. The major findings of this study was that majority of respondents mimic or imitate the violence they watch on cartoon “war and superman”. Thus the researcher recommended that it is important to regulate the content of television programmes in order to combat the negative influence that it might have on its viewers especially children who are generally vulnerable or weak and easily hurt physically parents and guardians should take special time to educate their children on what is right and wrong, what is appropriate for their age and what is not and regulate what they watch.

INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background to the Study
Television has become a significant social phenomenon in Nigeria and all over the world. Television viewing is generally believed to generate social force of undeniable influence on both the adult and the younger population. It is the selection of daily programmes, which gets full attention of the viewers. One might say, whatever impacts television is able to inculcate. It is because of various plays cartoons. Films and musical show etc. which are telecasted every day, (Zubari, 1992).
