Investigation into the Peculiarities of Slovak to English Translation on the Basis of Parallel Texts

Xenia Liashuk graduated from the Faculty of Intercultural Communication of Minsk State Linguistic University in 2010 with a specialization in foreign political relations, translating and interpreting. She is now carrying out her doctoral research at the Department of British and American Studies at the Faculty of Arts of Comenius University in Bratislava. Her research interests encompass contrastive translation studies on the basis of parallel texts and examination of the translation process within a broader perspective of cognitive linguistics and cultural studies. Apart from that, she is active as a foreign language teacher and translator of specialized texts from a variety of fields, such as economy, technology, engineering and documentation. She has contributed to preparation of teaching materials within grant projects. In future she would like to increase and broaden her professional knowledge and apply it in her research and didactic activities.
