ABSTRACT

This research project aims to investigate the contributions and challenges confronting business education for sustainable national development in Nigeria. Business education plays a crucial role in equipping individuals with the knowledge and skills required to contribute to economic growth and development. This study seeks to explore the contributions of business education to sustainable national development in Nigeria, identify the challenges faced by business education programs, and propose recommendations for overcoming these challenges to enhance the impact of business education on sustainable development.

A mixed-methods research design will be employed, utilizing surveys, interviews, and document analysis to collect data from business education stakeholders, including educators, students, policymakers, and employers. The research objectives include examining the contributions of business education to sustainable national development, identifying challenges faced by business education programs, exploring the factors contributing to these challenges, and proposing recommendations for improvement.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the contributions and challenges confronting business education for sustainable national development in Nigeria. The research will explore the ways in which business education programs contribute to sustainable development, including the development of entrepreneurial skills, job creation, fostering innovation, promoting ethical business practices, and enhancing economic productivity. Additionally, the study will identify the challenges faced by business education programs, such as outdated curricula, inadequate infrastructure, limited funding, lack of industry collaboration, and low student enrollment. Furthermore, the research will investigate the factors contributing to these challenges, including policy gaps, institutional constraints, and societal perceptions. Based on the findings, recommendations will be proposed for overcoming these challenges and enhancing the impact of business education on sustainable national development, encompassing curriculum reform, infrastructure development, industry partnerships, policy support, and stakeholder engagement.

The implications of this research extend to business education stakeholders, policymakers, educational institutions, and employers. The findings will provide business education stakeholders with insights into the contributions of business education to sustainable national development, guiding their decision-making processes and resource allocation.
