ABSTRACT

Business education plays a crucial role in fostering economic growth and development by equipping individuals with the necessary knowledge and skills for success in the business sector. This research project aims to explore the perception of business educators in Rivers State tertiary institutions regarding the relevance of business education in the transformation of the Nigerian economy.

A qualitative research design will be employed, utilizing interviews and focus group discussions to gather data from business educators in Rivers State tertiary institutions. The research objectives include examining the educators’ perceptions of the current state of business education, exploring their perspectives on the relevance of business education in the Nigerian economy, and identifying potential areas for improvement.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the perception of business educators regarding the relevance of business education in the transformation of the Nigerian economy. The research will shed light on the strengths and weaknesses of the current business education curriculum, explore the alignment between curriculum content and industry demands, and identify potential strategies for enhancing the effectiveness of business education in promoting economic growth.

The implications of this research extend to policymakers, curriculum developers, educators, and stakeholders in the Nigerian education system.
