ABSTRACT

This research project aims to investigate the adaptability to evolving office technology among office management and technology graduates of Oyo State universities in Nigeria. The rapid advancement of technology has significantly impacted office environments, requiring professionals to possess the skills to effectively navigate and adapt to evolving technologies. This study seeks to assess the level of adaptability to evolving office technology among graduates of office management and technology programs in Oyo State universities. Additionally, the research aims to identify the factors influencing their adaptability, explore the challenges faced, and propose recommendations for enhancing their technological readiness.

A mixed-methods research design will be employed, utilizing surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions to collect data from office management and technology graduates, employers, and industry experts in Oyo State. The research objectives include assessing the level of adaptability to evolving office technology, identifying the factors influencing adaptability, exploring the challenges faced by graduates, and proposing recommendations for enhancing technological readiness.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the adaptability to evolving office technology among office management and technology graduates in Oyo State. The research will assess the graduates’ level of proficiency and confidence in utilizing various office technologies, such as document management systems, communication tools, project management software, and collaborative platforms. It will explore the factors that influence their adaptability, including the quality of their education and training, exposure to technology during their academic programs, access to continuous professional development opportunities, and their personal motivation to stay updated with technological advancements. Additionally, the study will identify the challenges faced by graduates in adapting to evolving office technology, such as inadequate training, lack of access to technology infrastructure, resistance to change in workplace environments, and limited opportunities for hands-on experience. Furthermore, the research will propose recommendations for enhancing graduates’ technological readiness, such as curriculum revisions to incorporate emerging technologies, partnerships with industry for internships and practical training, establishment of technology centers for skill development, and provision of continuous professional development programs.

The implications of this research extend to office management and technology graduates, employers, educational institutions, and policymakers in Oyo State. The findings will provide graduates with insights into their level of adaptability to evolving office technology, enabling them to identify areas for improvement and enhance their employability in technology-driven workplaces. Employers can utilize the research findings to understand the technological readiness of graduates and make informed decisions regarding recruitment and training strategies. Educational institutions can benefit from the research findings by identifying gaps in the curriculum and developing strategies to enhance graduates’ technological competencies. Policymakers can utilize the research findings to inform policies and initiatives that promote the integration of emerging technologies in office management and technology programs
