ABSTRACT

This research project aims to investigate the utilization of digital skills for the teaching and learning of business education in public universities in the South-West region of Nigeria. The study seeks to assess the current state of digital skills integration in business education, examine the extent to which digital skills are utilized by educators and students, identify the challenges hindering their effective utilization, and propose recommendations for enhancing the integration of digital skills in the teaching and learning process.

A mixed-methods research design will be employed, incorporating surveys, interviews, and classroom observations. The research objectives include assessing the current state of digital skills integration in business education, examining the utilization of digital skills by educators and students, identifying the challenges in their effective utilization, and proposing recommendations for enhancing their integration.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the utilization of digital skills for the teaching and learning of business education. The research will assess the current state of digital skills integration, including the availability of digital infrastructure, the level of digital literacy among educators and students, and the types of digital skills utilized in the teaching and learning process. Additionally, the research will examine the extent to which digital skills are utilized by educators and students, encompassing the use of digital tools, online resources, and collaborative platforms. Furthermore, the research will identify the challenges hindering the effective utilization of digital skills, such as limited access to technology, inadequate training for educators, resistance to change, and a lack of digital content and resources. Based on the findings, recommendations will be proposed for enhancing the integration of digital skills in the teaching and learning process of business education, including infrastructure improvement, professional development programs for educators, curriculum revision, and collaboration with industry partners.

The implications of this research extend to educators, curriculum developers, policymakers, educational institutions, and students. The findings will inform educators about the current state of digital skills integration in business education, guiding them in developing strategies to enhance their utilization for effective teaching and learning. Curriculum developers can utilize the research findings to revise the business education curriculum, ensuring the inclusion of relevant digital skills and competencies. Policymakers can consider the implications of the research when formulating policies and initiatives that promote the integration of digital skills in the teaching and learning process. Educational institutions can benefit from the research findings by identifying areas for improvement in terms of digital infrastructure and resources.
